NBB Delegation Attends COP28 in Dubai
A delegation from the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) attends the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) at Expo City Dubai.
The NBB delegation, led by NBB Group CEO, Usman Ahmed, consists of a few of the Bank’s executive team and other senior members. During COP28 the NBB delegates will be taking this opportunity to network with industry colleagues, climate change experts and diplomats from around the world to discuss pressing issues related to the reduction of carbon emissions. The delegates will be demonstrating how the Bank is supporting the Kingdom’s vision of becoming a leader in sustainability and the green economy by implementing various initiatives and projects that enhance its environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. The team will also be highlighting the financial sector’s efforts to align with the global best practices and standards in ESG criteria and to foster a culture of sustainability among its stakeholders.
Members of the NBB delegation are participating in talks and panel discussions related to sustainability as well as its integration in the banking sector. Abdulrahim Abdulhameed, Senior Associate & Sustainability Officer at NBB, presented ‘NBB’s Sustainability Journey’ at the Bahrain Pavilion during the “Finance/Trade/Gender Equality/Accountability” day where he showcased NBB’s accomplishments over the years, its sustainability strategy and framework as well as NBB’s market position, tangible impacts, achievements and milestones.
NBB continues to enhance its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, integrating them it into all of its work streams, and remains committed to working with stakeholders and partners to develop its existing ESG practices in the coming years.
